Ever since it started in 1988 the St James City Farm, has been and still is a huge success story.  It’s not often you see and hear cows, sheep, horses, and chickens, to name just a few of the animals, in the middle of a city but that’s what you can expect to see and hear there.  You can even ride a horse around their fields and come to grips with grooming and tacking.

You can receive hands-on tuition in growing your own vegetables as well as building housing for their many livestock and taking part in many other exciting opportunities organised by this fabulous farm. To make sure their animals are kept safe and secure the farm could use a company such as Greenfields who specialise in professional fencing Gloucester. Run mainly by an army of volunteers this amazing people farm is funded by a registered local charity called, “The Friendship Café” who help to run the Farm as part of a community project.

The main aim of the farm is to bring local city children and other deprived children into a safe farm environment where they can work and interact with real farm animals. The volunteers are from a varied mixture of ages, ethnic origins and abilities and many disabled children are included in the very long list of children and adults wanting to help and support this incredible farm.
