Summer is here and it is time to get back together with friends and family to enjoy the beautiful weather – what better way to do this than with a garden party? A garden party is a great way to get everyone together and it is also good in these current times as it is safer to meet out of doors to lessen the chances of passing on viruses.

Getting together outside also means that it is easier to get more people together as space outdoors is often easier to find. Create space in the garden with tables and chairs or make it more fun and less formal by using picnic blankets. Of course, it depends on who you are inviting – some less mobile people may not be able to use a picnic blanket.

Food is another important part of a garden party – foods that are easy to serve and eat are the key here. Finger sandwiches with many fillings are a great choice and of course don’t forget the garden party favourite – a classic Victoria sponge, filled with homemade strawberry jam and creamy buttercream and flavoured with delicious vanilla extract.

Another good idea is to consider activities and games, especially if you have kids coming. There are lots of great outdoor games, giant chess sets and snakes and ladders, or if it’s a nice day how about a paddling pool?– if you have a big enough garden you could even hire a bouncy castle to keep the little ones entertained!
