Should you paint your bedroom ceiling?

Ceilings are usually painted white for ease, but including it in your bedroom’s colour scheme can have a big impact and is currently an interior design trend. There are three main ways to add colour to a ceiling, which we’ll look at here.

Colour drenching

This is having one colour for your walls, ceiling and woodwork and is the technique of continuing the wall colour onto the fifth wall, but in a slightly lighter shade to gently draw the eye upwards and, crucially, avoid the harsh contrast that stark white often creates. It is particularly good for smaller bedrooms, as it creates the illusion of space. If you opt to use the same shade, it doesn’t even have to mean using neutrals, as bold colours can work too.

Choosing colours which are part of the same range but a different shade is another option which can look effective. These use the same colour pigment but in different strengths, so they blend really well, but still provide a bit of a contrast. You can think about having your bedroom furniture in a similar shade too and if you’re looking at doing bedroom renovations in future, several firms such ashttps://www.thekitchenrefurbishmentcompany.co.uk/bedroom-renovations/ can give you options.

Darker ceiling

Create a wow factor by having a lighter wall colour and contrasting it with a darker, but complementary ceiling shade. Having a statement ceiling creates a focal point which can draw the eye upwards. Classic colour combinations include pink and green or green and blue and you could also paint your woodwork the same colour.
