Month: December 2020

We all love trees- the world would be in trouble without them, and the calming feeling that you get walking through a forest is down to these beautiful natural wonders. Trees come in lots of shapes and sizes, and many need a little help when it comes to maintenance, so we call someone like this tree surgery Gloucester based company Geoffrey Urch.

Some trees become huge however – and here are a few of the world’s tallest trees….

Head to Tasmania, and to the Arve valley and you will find the tallest Eucalyptus tree, named Centurion. These are a tall species anyway but at just shy of 100 metres tall this is the king of them all! The tree is very popular and even has its own Facebook page for all of its adoring fans!

In the Sequoia National Park lives General Sherman, the giant sequoia tree is not actually the tallest but is the largest tree by volume. This beast of a tree is around 2500 years old and is around 83 metres in height with a width of 7.7 metres. It is believed that the whole tree weights around 2000 tonnes!

The coastal redwood tree Hyperion is the tallest tree in the world, and its location is a closely guarded secret. It is based somewhere in the national Redwood park of California, and it is so tall that you cannot see the top when you are standing at the bottom! At over 116 metres tall, it stands even taller than Big Ben!
